Episode 49: The Rethink The Holidays Video

In this episode of Life after Kids with Drs. Brooke and Lynne, we’re discussing midlife women letting go what was and embracing what is to have more joy in midlife and during the holidays. It’s the Rethink the Holidays Video

It's easy to feel nostalgic around the holidays, especially if you're listening to Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra Christmas music on repeat!

But since we're in midlife, and our kids are getting older, let us pose a question to you...
Is it time to let go of the way things used to be and embrace what is?

In this week's episode of Life after Kids with Drs. Brooke and Lynne, we're talking about rethinking the holidays and we're sharing some of the different  ways we've approached Christmas.  Whether you're a traditionalist or you like to think outside the box, one thing's for sure, as we get older, the holidays start to look different, so we should be prepared to make the absolute best of the season, enjoying every moment.  Here's a few pointers on how to do just that...

  • Take a destination holiday for some relaxation and "forced family fun"

  • Are there friends or family you haven't connected with in a while that you could celebrate with this year?

  • If you're kids are out of the house and won't be home for Christmas, don't stay at home, get out and do something.  Take a hike, see a movie, have an amazing dinner out, one that doesn't involve duck (did ya get "The Christmas Story Reference" there?!) Fa Ra Ra Ra Ra!

  • Prioritize your relationship with your spouse or significant other so that if there comes a time when it is just the two of you, you're still have fun and making lasting memories together

While Dr. Brooke tends to be more of a traditionalist, Dr. Lynne likes to change things up and spend the holidays a bit differently.  We talk about some of our favorite ways to spend Christmas in this week's episode of Life after Kids with Drs. Brooke and Lynne.  Click the Picture above to watch The Rethink The Holidays Video.  However you choose to spend your holiday, there's one thing we think we can all agree on.  The happier and warmer you make your home, the more your kids and family will want to be there.  So whatever you're doing for the holiday, be sure to cultivate joy, laughter, and celebration.

We're going to have the hap-hap-happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tapped dance with Danny effing Kaye.
