Episode 14: The Weight Management Video

Of all the things we struggle with in MIDLIFE, WEIGHT GAIN can be the biggest!  Why is it that we hit forty and all the things we used to do to manage our weight don't seem to work so well anymore?  It's like our metabolism decided to go into retirement.  And, why do we start putting on weight in all the places we don't want it?  Belly bloat anyone??

There are many reasons for the midlife weight gain, here are a few:

  • Thyroid dysfunction/changes

  • Estrogen and progesterone fluctuation and imbalance

  • Stress that leads to higher cortisol levels

Despite these changes in body chemistry, it is possible to maintain a weight that is right for your body in this season of life.  So get ready, because in this week's episode of Life after Kids with Drs. Brooke and Lynne we're sharing weight management strategies that work best for each of us in midlife.

But before you go...

If you remember nothing else from this video, REMEMBER THIS:
*In this phase of life, your primary focus should be on eating to fuel your body and feel your best. Take the focus off of how you look and shift it to how much energy you have for your day. And, ask yourself these 3 questions

  • how do I feel during my day

  • how do I feel when I get up

  • how am I sleeping

If you begin eating to feel good, not just to look good, you might be surprised at the difference it makes in your weight.
