Episode 29: The Detox Video

In midlife, we're all a little full of CRAP!

It's true.  We've been around enough to not only have picked up toxins in the food we eat, but also in the environment, the air, and the world around us.  It's typical in midlife to focus on our diet as a means to improve or maintain our health.  But detoxing and ridding the body of garbage is just as important as what we eat, yet its often overlooked.

In this episode of Life after Kids with Drs. Brooke and Lynne, we're discussing the importance of DETOX on our overall health in midlife. And, we're sharing some of our favorite simple ways to detox.  Learn some of our tips below.

  • Sweat Everyday.  This can be done with a workout, an infrared sauna, or a hot magnesium salt bath.  Dr. Lynne likes to take her workouts up a notch by wearing long sleeves or a sweat shirt to ensure she gets a good sweat

  • Dry Skin Brushing.  This will flush the lymphatic system and it helps with detoxification.

  • Activated Charcoal.  This can be taken as a powder or in capsule form and it rids the GI track of toxins

  • Glutathione. It's a powerful antioxidant and is able to cross the blood brain barrier

There are a few other very important things we want you to know about detox.  For example, you need to be moving your bowels daily to detox your digestive track.  But you also need to make a habit of regularly detoxing you cells and your brain.  Also, detoxing isn't just important for physical health.  It's also very beneficial to our mental health as well.
